There are few experiences to beat walking on Table Mountain. The Table Mountain National Park is a World Heritage Site and an ecologically sensitive area with plants and animals that occur nowhere else in the world. Explore vibrant, sunny fynbos, swiftly running mountain streams and deep green mystical forests. See spectacular views of the Cape Flats, Hottentots Holland Mountains and False Bay coastline.

OPTION 1: FRONT TABLE
Platteklip Gorge to Upper Cableway Station

  • Up - relentlessly up! That's the only way to describe the path in Platteklip Gorge. It's the most direct route to the top of the mountain and the most popular. But it is not a route to be trifled with; the going can be tough. Way down by cable car.
  • Distance: approx. 3km
  • Time: between 1hr for the super fit to 3hrs for the slow

OPTION 2: BACK TABLE
Skeleton Gorge to Upper Cableway Station

  • This route starts with a troll through Kirstenbosch Garden, a popular walks especially in summer when the Afromontane forest offers shade almost all the way up skeleton Gorge, the toughest section. The climb up the gorge is steep with ladders in places and few rocky steps, slippery during winter. The second part of the hike will take us along the eastern face of the mountain to Maclear's Beacon before walking across the front of the Table Mountain toward the cableway station.
  • Way down by cable car.
  • Distance: approx. 7km
  • Time: between 2½hrs for the super fit to 4½hrs for the slow
